Two for Tea

A production with two actors for a family audience. It lasts approximately 45 minutes and may be performed three times throughout the day.

A charming musical journey exploring the history of the humble tealeaf. It was first performed at Syon House in 2008. It was at Syon that the first tea plant flowered in England in 1773.

Teatime Treats are served by Mr Alan Cheeseman and Mr Tim Laycock with musical accompaniment by Mr Laycock.

From the musings of WW1 poet Robert W. Service to the Tea Scene in ‘The Importance Of Being Earnest’, from ‘The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party’ to ‘How to boil a kettle- a futile search for drinking water’ in ‘Three Men In A Boat’, from the extraordinary tealeaf readings of gypsy Rosie Lee to ‘A Bath Teashop’ by John Betjeman and the music of Sammy Fain ‘When I Take My Sugar To Tea’.

A delightful and very English infusion of words, music and dance. Suitable for all ages; everyone’s cup of tea!
