Commission a Show

In three simple steps, you could host a theatrical experience that will last in the minds of your audience for years to come.

  1. Your Ambition
We always look at what you want to achieve. Is the event about building new audiences, creating a different occasion for fundraising or about celebrating a big occasion ? Whatever your priorities, we’ll make sure we create a piece of theatre that fits your priorities.
  2. The Commission
Our creative process always starts with research. We’ll dig through the history, talk to local people and speak to our specialist historians. We’ll also combine our extensive knowledge of historic texts, songs, stories, dance and music to create an illuminating theatrical experience.
  3. The Show
We’ve worked without causing concern in Grade 1 buildings and across vast open spaces. We will need a few days to set up props, lighting and set as required -  but cause the least amount of distraction from your day to day activities. All of our team are DBS checked and we can provide high professional standards from technical support to theatrical expertise. If you are a tenant - reviewing the lease and negotiating changes to the lease term.

The theatre doesn’t end with the last applause. We’ll meet you after to discuss how it went and what you might want to do next.

We can provide you with top class photography for use on social media, websites and print.

We can also provide services for capturing the event on film to let the event live on longer than the live occasion.

Feedback & Testimonials

  • Alexandra Robb

    London Wildlife Trust
“The production was outstanding. The unsuspecting audience was led from one surprise to another as they weaved around the gardens, coming upon Mole busy spring cleaning and then to the river where Ratty and Mole performed some hilarious antics as they ‘messed about on the river’ ( in a real boat! ). The main characters were brilliantly played and the costumes superb. The Director was great at getting audience members involved. A fabulous afternoon, full of laughs, energy and more than a nod towards a classic piece of drama, hugely enjoyed by an audience of over 300 people.”

    Emma Davies

Head of Drama, Orleans Park school, Twickenham
“The pupils really enjoyed being involved in such a magical event and were very lucky to have been given such exposure to real specialists. I think that one of the most valuable parts of the process was seeing our young people working alongside adults and being treated with the respect of professionals. You are all so positive about their input and their ideas and so accommodating. I really valued how much you valued them.”

    Angela Kidner

Chair of The Environment Trust, Richmond
"At The Environment Trust's community event (One Great Garden) to explore the market garden heritage of Hampton, using a minimum of props and musical instruments, Theatre Merchants quickly created an atmosphere of great friendliness that had people exchanging stories, remembering games and even dancing!"
